Angophora Press maintains and supports a number of online communities.
What is an online community? Essentially, it is a group of people who share with and learn from each other using (these days) a database-backed web site. The members of this community are there for a reasonable period of time, so that they get to know each other and learn each other's preferences, likes, and dislikes. Despite the limited "bandwidth" of the web medium, members of an online community form bonds, friendships, and alliances with each other, just as in any face-to-face community.
The participants in an online community have a common interest that brought them there in the first place. Online communities spring up around all sorts of diverse topics. A shared interest in a particular hobby, such as photography or a particular brand of motorcycle, is a common theme of many communities. Other are oriented around a more pragmatic topic, such as home appliances (no kidding), a particular ailment, or a need for a particular kind of service such as (say) laser eye surgery or web hosting. Creating a successful online community is a combination of the right features and software, and your own drive and enthusiasm for the community and its main topic of interest!

Educational communities
Speaking to and interacting with someone directly and in person is still the most effective way to teach someone how to learn. Still, online support is a valuable adjunct to face-to-face teaching, and provide additional benefits that are particularly relevant to students in a modern University. It's done poorly often enough, let us help you to do it well. Read more....
Support for the Arts
Angophora Press provides web support (and sponsorship) for a number of organizations in music and the performing arts. While some of these are "content only" sites (such as this one), others are evolving into small communities of their own. If you belong to a musical ensemble or performing arts group, perhaps we can help.
